Aerial photography from Typhoon Haiyan

DOCUMENTARY STORIES

I spent the day out with the US Navy yesterday, based out of the USS George Washington, a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier helping coordinate aid and rescue to victims of Typhoon Haiyan (also called Typhoon Yolanda in the Philippines).

In between helicopter landings at emergency aid drop zones in the heavily hit villages around Samar Province, I made a series of panoramic images showing the destruction left in the wake of what some people are calling the strongest storm ever recorded.

Many thanks to the men and women of the George Washington, who were all gracious with their time and assistance.
